Frank W. Sharpe, 96, Madrid

MADRID -- Frank W. Sharpe, age 96, passed away at his home unexpectedly on Sunday afternoon, March 3, 2024.

Friends and family are welcome to call the Phillips Memorial Home, in Madrid, NY on Wednesday evening, March 6, 2024, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

Funeral services for Frank will be held on Thursday morning, March 7, 2024, at Phillips Memorial Home, in Madrid starting at 11:00 am with Rev. Betsy Westman presiding.

Burial will be held in Brookside Cemetery, in Waddington, NY following the funeral services.

Frank is survived by his devoted family, Shirley and husband, Chris Arno of Canton, NY, Lydia Morton of Edinburg, TX, Frank S. and Donna Sharpe of Madrid, NY, Fernande Sharpe and fiancée, Wendy Lemke of Lisbon, NY, Sara Sharpe of Ogdensburg, NY, Ersa and husband, Randy Russell of Moira, NY, and Jamie and wife, Debbie Sharpe of Waddington, NY. Frank is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by his second wife, Katherine M. “Kitty” Sharpe in 2005, siblings Marion Lucille Goodwin, Lydia Micklewright, Sterling Sharpe and Merrill Sharpe along with his K9 companion, “Dater”.

Frank was born on March 26, 1927, to the late William Frank and Martha (Scruton) Sharpe in Waddington, NY.

He attended Waddington Schools and worked on the family farm with his other siblings. He worked the land in the North Country for many years, later running his own farms.

Frank later retired from his farm to continue on working the farms for others around the area.

Frank was married to his first wife, Nellie Steinburg in September of 1953, the marriage ended in divorce.

Frank later was married to Katherine M. DeShane on November 24, 1973, in Madrid, NY.

He was an avid hunter and trapper and could be found outdoors enjoying nature.

Snowshoeing in the winter months and walking his property in the summer.

Frank had a tremendous work ethic, which had been instilled in his children.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
