CANTON — A fire broke out overnight at Dairy Queen, 51 Gouverneur St., according to Canton Fire Chief Brian McCluskey.
The blaze was reported to Canton fire shortly after 1:30 a.m. McCluskey was unsure how the fire was discovered.
Dozens of firefighters from fire departments in Canton, Potsdam, Morley, Rensselaer Falls, Heuvelton and Gouverneur responded to the scene with West Potsdam on standby for Canton fire.
“There was heavy fire in the rear of the building,” McCluskey said about what the building looked like when he arrived.
Firemen are still on scene.
No cause has been determined but state investigators will try to determine the cause, he said.
The blaze caused an extensive amount of damage, McCluskey said.
No injuries were reported.
