CANTON -- Dr. Albert G. Glover, 83, died in peace at his home in Canton, New York on February 3, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on November 19, 1942, in Needham, Massachusetts, Albert lived a full creative life as a poet, professor, and publisher.

He attended McGill University and then achieved his doctorate in English at SUNY Buffalo.

Dr. Glover taught English and poetry at St. Lawrence University from 1968 until his retirement in 2005 as the Emeritus Piskor Professor of English.

He was known for his unique, engaging classes and concern for his students. Many of his students kept in touch with him over the years - seeking his advice and guidance.

One of Dr. Glover's many accomplishments was the restoration of a historical home in Paradise Valley.

Albert was also a generous person who enjoyed volunteer work, playing guitar, writing, caring for his home and family, playing hockey and golf, publishing books, and, on occasion! sitting with great blue herons by the Little River.

He is survived by his wife Patricia, his sons Frederic, Manson, and Charles, as well as three grandchildren, John, Eric, and Ava.

Dr. Glover was a fierce advocate for the St. Lawrence University Library as well as student support and advancement.

A Celebration·of Life will be held at the UU Church in Canton in the spring.
