POTSDAM – An eight year-old pit mix female has been adopted after 1,567 days at the Potsdam Animal Shelter.
Kenya has spent more than four years looking for someone to come and give her a good home. On July 12 her family took her home to the life she deserves, said Potsdam Humane Society board member Bonnie Boyd in an email to North Country This Week.
Kenya tolerated the shelter environment well, enjoyed her playtimes with staff and really never stopped looking for her folks to come for her. Kenya was very lucky to be placed at the Potsdam Humane Society where the policy is "no kill" unless there is extreme aggressive behavior toward humans or sickness beyond hope for recovery. Although no animal has come close to the length of Kenya's stay, the Potsdam Humane Society will not give up on an animal's second chance for a happy life in a loving family.
The Potsdam Humane Society sends thanks to the hundreds of people who generously give to the animals so that animals like Kenya have a second chance at a happy life. They are mostly funded by private donations from the community and encourage those who have not yet helped out to please do so.
