Dairy Princess Parade postponed as COVID threat looms

CANTON -- The annual St. Lawrence County Dairy Princess Parade and Festival held in downtown Canton at the end of May has been postponed.

The Canton Chamber of Commerce which organizes the event announced recently that the parade and festival would be postponed to a date yet to be announced. Chamber executive director Tammy Mackin said in an email that the organization hopes to hold the event later this summer.

The annual parade and festival drew thousands of St. Lawrence County residents last year.

The event, which usually begins Friday night, features Big Wheels races, live music, and a festival in the village green park Saturday with a frog jumping contest, dairy displays, cake walk, crafts, chicken barbecue and concession stands.

The St. Lawrence County Dairy Princess and her court then lead a parade in the afternoon with the Brockville Pipe Band.
