HERMON — The Community Bank N.A. Hermon branch recently marked National Reading Month with a special visit to students at Hermon Dekalb Central School.
Hermon Branch Manager LeeAnne Ross read various books to students, such as “One Cent, Two Cents, Old Cent, New Cent,” and held group discussions about the stories.
The Hermon branch is just one of the many Community Bank N.A. branches across New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont and Massachusetts who took part in this initiative.
Across the bank’s footprint, nineteen branches visited local schools, daycares and libraries to read to children in their communities.
“Our branch team was thrilled to participate in National Reading Month and celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday by reading to our local children,” Ross said. “We understand the impact reading can have on young children and were happy to take the time to support this initiative. We’re delighted that our employees had the opportunity to be guest readers for so many children.”
National Reading Month was founded to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss, the favorite author of millions of children. Its mission is to help kids and teens improve their reading skills and motivate Americans of all ages to read every day.
Each year schools, libraries and educational institutions across the United States participate in the event to support this cause.
