Colton-Pierrepont Central School names valedictorian, salutatorian for Class of 2024

COLTON — Colton-Pierrepont Central School has named their top academic achievers for 2024.  

The valedictorian of the Colton-Pierrepont Class of 2024 is Gabrielle Sochia. Gabrielle is the daughter of Kattie Nanticoke-Clough and Joseph Sochia. She has proven herself to be a high-achieving,  accomplished student while completing course work in AP English, AP US History, AP Biology and college psychology and college sociology. 

Gabrielle has been a dedicated student to her extracurricular commitments in the Big Brother/Big Sister program for National Honor Society, Speaking Team, Whiz Quiz, and Student Government. In her free time, Gabrielle enjoys hiking, baking, and socializing with her friends. Her favorite quote is, “To kindness and love, the things we need most” (Dr. Seuss).

Gabrielle will graduate with a Regents with Advanced Designation. She plans to attend SUNY Plattsburgh and pursue a degree in Biomedical Sciences.  

Salutatorian for the Class of 2024 is Ashleigh Woods. Ashleigh is the daughter of Karen Kraus of Colton. Ashleigh successfully completed AP courses in US History and English and college courses in psychology, sociology and physics.  Ashleigh has been very active during her high school career as a Whiz Quiz participant,  Foreign Language Club member, National Honor Society President, and class treasurer.

Ashleigh is a three-season athlete playing soccer, basketball and softball.  In her free time, Ashleigh enjoys spending time with family, hiking, and playing basketball.  Her favorite quote is, “Life is ours to be spent, not to be saved” (D.H. Lawrence).

 Ashleigh will graduate with a Regents with Advanced Designation. She will attend SUNY Plattsburgh with a major in childhood/special education.

Colton-Pierrepont seniors who will also graduate with a 90 or higher cumulative average are Lola Charleson, Morgan Cole, Alexis Garcia, Zoe McLean and Ashley McKinley.

Colton-Pierrepont High School graduation will take place on Thursday, June 27 at 7 p.m. at Colton-Pierrepont Central School.
