POTSDAM — Clarkson University and the New York State Center of Excellence for Healthy Water Solutions (CoE HWS), in collaboration with RemWell, LLC, have been awarded a $65,000 grant through the Jeff Lawrence Innovation Fund’s Manufacturing Grants program. The funding, administered by FuzeHub and supported by Empire State Development (ESD), will accelerate the development of cutting-edge technology aimed at eliminating harmful PFAS contaminants from groundwater.
The project, titled InSRT 3.0: Design for Manufacturing, will support RemWell’s efforts to create a third-generation, production-ready version of its underground ultrasonic reactor. The new design aims to significantly improve the system’s durability and optimize it for large-scale manufacturing and deployment. These improvements are expected to boost the region’s high-tech manufacturing sector and support the creation of new skilled jobs in New York’s North Country.
PFAS, commonly referred to as “forever chemicals,” are persistent environmental pollutants found in water supplies across the country. RemWell’s reactor technology offers a promising solution for destroying these contaminants and improving public health outcomes.
The grant is part of a broader $387,500 investment in six collaborative projects across New York State, designed to support research and development, technical innovation, and process improvement among small to medium-sized manufacturers.
