Civil War Weekend

MADRID – The fourth annual Civil War weekend at Fort Tribute will be held Saturday, July 27, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and continues through Sunday, July 28, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Fort Tribute on the grounds of the St. Lawrence Power & Equipment Museum, 1755 State Highway 345. Admission is $5 per person and children under 12 free. Saturday events include: 9 a.m. camps open to the public, infantry & artillery drills; 10 a.m. Civil War hospital demonstration; 10:30 a.m. traveling forge demonstration near Fort Tribute; 11 a.m. period cooking demonstration (food of the soldier), inside Fort Tribute; 12 p.m. Linda Russell – Songs of the Civil War, speaker’s tent (near the sawmill); 1 p.m. period play “Grant on the Eve of Victory” City Point, VA, speaker’s tent (near the sawmill); 2 p.m. women’s fashion in the 1860s, speaker’s tent (near the sawmill); 2:30 p.m. children’s muster drill inside Fort Tribute; 3 p.m. lecture by Author Derek Maxfield “Hellmira: The Union’s Most Infamous Civil War Prison Camp – Elmira, NY,” speaker’s tent (near the sawmill); 4 p.m. battle reenactment; 5 p.m. camps closed.
