Charles F. Fahd, 98, formerly of Massena

ALBANY - Charles F. Fahd, 98, of Albany, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024 at Shaker Place Nursing Home. Charles was born in Albany, the son of the late Charles Fahd and Ina Roth Fahd. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the Big Red One. He was wounded in Cologne, Germany, and was awarded the purple heart. After the war, Charles began a long career with the New York State Dept. of Labor. He was a member of VFW Sheehy Palmer Post 6776, and had a great love for his family and for animals. In more recent years he loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Charles was predeceased by his beloved wife Elizabeth Bonville Fahd. He is survived by his children Charles F. Fahd, II (Susan) of Massena, NY, and Mary Anne McDonald (Keith) of Albany; his cherished grandchildren Meaghan Sloane (Marc) of Jamesville, Jonathan Fahd of Massena, Francesca Fahd of Syracuse, and Abigail McDonald Halgas (Barret) of San Antonio, TX; his great grandchildren Tucker, Teagan, and Tessa Fahd, Emmy Sloane, and Everett and Miles Halgas; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Joseph Fahd, Alice Patton, and Ina Berry.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Parish of Mater Christi, Hurst Ave. & Hopewell St., Albany, Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the church Saturday morning prior to the mass beginning at 8:30 a.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hans Funeral Home, Albany. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled Veterans or the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.
