CANTON – The 28th edition of Canton Winterfest slated Feb. 23 to March 3 will feature acting workshops from the Grasse River Players, a sled hockey tournament, cornhole tournaments, wine and spirits tastings, a host of high school and college sporting events and much more.

“One of the first big things happening this year is the continuing tradition of Canton Winterfest and I encourage you to get to as many as you can,” stated Katie Berry, Canton Coordinator & Communications Specialist for the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce.

Berry was recently hired to coordinate Canton and Canton area events and activities.

“I am excited to have joined the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce. As a North Country native, I am passionate about building community and supporting small businesses. Having recently graduated from Clarkson University and worked with the Clarkson marketing department and the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce, I am looking forward to contributing to this wonderful community and promoting all it has to offer,” Berry said.

A Business After Hours on Tuesday, Feb. 27, is a good way to learn more about Canton Winterfest while making new acquaintances and business connections. The event will be at the Best Western University Inn at 5 p.m.

Winterfest highlights include an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast and cardboard sled races on Saturday, Feb. 24, acting classes presented by Grasse River Players on Feb. 24 and March 2, and free community skating on Friday Feb. 23, Sunday Feb. 25, Tuesday, Feb. 27, Thursday, Feb. 29 and Sunday March 3.

Other events include a Bridal Expo at the Best Western University Inn on Sunday, March 3 and the Little River Winterfest at Little River Community School on Saturday, March 2.

On March 2 at 2 p.m. a ‘Slice of Theatre/Slice of Pizza’ will be held at Sergi’s Restaurant with Grasse River Players presenting scenes and songs for a 50th anniversary event. Tickets are available at showtix4u.com/event-details/80559 and at the door.
