CANTON - At Thursday’s monthly town board meeting, the following action was taken:
• Jeni Reed was appointed part-time deputy town clerk at a salary of $20 per hour up to 19 hours per week. Reed also works part-time as Canton’s Community Economic Development assistant.
• The town board approved $8,000 to support a $32,000 grant awarded to the Village of Canton for tree work in the Canton Village Park. The town’s $8,000 will fulfill the local match for the grant awarded by the Department of Environmental Conservation Urban & Community Forestry grant program.
• Code Enforcement Officer Miranda Corbine reported she issued 16 to 17 burn permits and 11 building permits (two for house construction) in May.
• A public hearing for a Battery Storage Energy law will be held at 5:45 p.m. on July 13.
