CANTON — Canton Central School will be fully remote starting today, Thursday, January 7.
“We will tentatively reopen for in-person instruction on Tuesday, January 19,” CCS Superintendent Ron Burke said in an email to North Country This Week.
“We have experienced a loss of our domestic hot water boiler at the high school. Without this boiler, we are unable to provide safe food preparation for students throughout the District. We are also unable to provide the required hot water at restroom facilities throughout the high school. A replacement boiler has been secured and will hopefully be installed by the end of next week.”
Additionally, the district is now short four members in its transportation department due to COVID-19 exposure.
Burke said students attending out-of-district English Language Learning Programs and out-of-district BOCES Special Education classes will continue to attend those programs. Seaway Tech Students are tentatively scheduled to return to those programs on Monday, January 11.
