MASSENA -- Boys & Girls Club of Massena is a beneficiary of the Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag Program for the month of August.
This program supports local nonprofits.
For every blue Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag with the “good karma” messaging purchased at the Massena store, the club will receive a $1 donation.
“We are so honored to be recommended by the local Hannaford team for this program,” said Debra Donatto, Boys & Girls Club of Massena chief professional officer. “We are anticipating the opening of our Clubhouse this school year, so this is coming at the perfect time to help us with the additional costs of our expanded offerings.”
Club officials have a goal of raising $500 through the program in August. That equates to 500 bags bought in support of the cause.
“Boys & Girls Club of Massena plans to use the projected funds to help defray operating expenses as they move into their permanent clubhouse this coming fall, and begin serving all community youth on a full time basis,” a prepared statement from the club reads.
“With the responsibility of and having a permanent facility to maintain and operate on an ongoing basis,” Donatto said in the statement, “we are kicking off the Our Kids, Our Community campaign. This campaign will help raise the funds necessary to be sustainable for years to come. It’s wonderful that our local businesses are helping us spearhead this effort.”
The club’s contact information is 250-7806 or www.bgcmassena.org.
