Beverly (Valois) Newton, 80, Ogdensburg

OGDENSBURG -- Funeral services for Beverly (Valois) Newton, age 80, of Ogdensburg, NY, will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 11:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Morristown with Rev. Jay Seymour officiating.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to funeral services at Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg.

Mrs. Newton passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family under the care of St. Lawrence Valley Hospice.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg.

Beverly was born on May 17, 1943, in Ogdensburg, NY, the daughter of the late Oswald and Leona (Dominic) Valois.

Beverly was raised in Ogdensburg and that is where she met and married Edward “Pete” Newton on June 10, 1961, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Ogdensburg, NY, with Rev. Kevin Conners officiating.

Together the couple raised their two children in Morristown, NY.

Beverly was employed at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center where she held various jobs including in the dining room and the laundry department.

Beverly and Pete enjoyed over twenty-plus years of retirement.

Beverly was a very involved member of St. John’s Church in Morristown, NY, helping whenever needed. She taught religious instruction and was a eucharistic minister. Beverly enjoyed many religious trips with her friends both here in the United States and abroad.

Among the many things Beverly loved in life was spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, and she had a huge love of animals, especially cats and dogs.

Beverly is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, Edward “Pete” Newton of Ogdensburg, NY; her son, Michael Newton and his wife, Nikki, of Ogdensburg, NY; a daughter, Charlotte Wilson and her husband, Ken, of Hammond, NY; grandchildren, Mara Wilson and wife, Ashley, of Ogdensburg, NY, Macy Norman and her husband, Ryan, of Ogdensburg, NY, and Jarika Newton of Ogdensburg, NY; great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Molly, Jackson, Landon, Christian, Cayden, and Olivia; three sisters, Beatrice Conger of Ogdensburg, NY, Bernice Montroy and her husband, Leonard, of Ogdensburg, NY, and Brenda Royce of Florida; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Beverly is predeceased by her parents, Oswald and Leona Valois; mother and fathers-in-law, Eva and Clark Newton; a sister-in-law, Patricia Wells, and a beloved Aunt Grace Roesch.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
