Bertha "Byrtie" M. Ramsey, 64, Ogdensburg

OGDENSBURG -- Bertha "Byrtie" M. Ramsey, age 64, of Jay Street in Ogdensburg, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, after being stricken at her home.

A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024, from 2:00-5:00 pm at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Ogdensburg.

Byrtie is survived by her son, Benjamin Ramsey of Ogdensburg, and a step-daughter, Chera Davison, also of Ogdensburg; her brothers, Harold Joseph (Rita) Refici of Troy, NY, Roger (Janice) Refici of Gouverneur, Sam (Lisa) Refici of Ogdensburg, and Lyle (Laurie) Refici of Ogdensburg; her sisters, Sandra Romasser of Gilbert, SC, and Kathy (Bob) Northrup of Gilbert, SC; and grandchildren, Ariana Ramsey, Ivey, Cooper, Kinslee, Mazelyn, and Kelton Davison along with many nieces, nephews & cousins.

Byrtie was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Mildred Refici, and her husband, Joseph B. Ramsey, in 2016.

She was born on December 18, 1959, in Star Lake, NY, a daughter of Harold and Mildred (Rice) Refici.

She graduated from Clifton Fine High School and was later married to Joseph Ramsey on November 5, 1990, in Port Ewen, NY.

Byrtie worked for Phillips Diner in Ogdensburg for a period and was a homemaker for most of her life.

She enjoyed socializing with friends, spending time with her granddaughter, and doing crafts.

She was also a member of the American Legion.

Byrtie's presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
