WADDINGTON -- The world's best anglers will descend upon Waddington as the Bassmaster Elite Series hosts a highly anticipated season finale August 15-18.

The event will be held at Whitaker Park, the site of many fishing tournaments in recent years, including a handful of Bassmaster Elite Series events.

"We are excited to have the Bassmaster's tournament in Waddington again. We hope everyone enjoys everything it has to offer and the many highlights around the village of Waddington," Mayor Michael Zagrobelny said.

A total of 103 anglers will be competing in the event, which will also feature numerous activities for the entire family.

Family Outdoor Days will be held Aug. 17-18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with entertainment including outdoor sports, recreational activities and local clubs, organizations and businesses, officials say.

"Hosting the Bassmaster Elite Series is a tremendous honor for Waddington," said Kathryn Puleo, STLC Chamber Tourism & Events Manager.

"It’s a fantastic opportunity for locals and visitors alike to experience the beauty of our region and support our vibrant community."

Volunteer opportunities exist for those who wish to assist during the Family Outdoor Days, as well as with the tournament itself.

The tournament is being hosted by the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce and the village of Waddington.
