The Alzheimer’s Association will present a five-part Caregiver Education Series this fall to provide family caregivers and others supporting individuals living with dementia with practical information, strategies, and resources.
The free educational series, “The Empowered Caregiver,” will be held from 1–2 p.m. at the Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley, 6805 US-11, Potsdam.
The series will feature the following programs:
Aug. 31 — Building Foundations of Caregiving
Sept. 14 — Supporting Independence
Sept. 28 — Communicating Effectively
Oct. 12 — Responding to Dementia-Related Behaviors
Oct. 26 — Exploring Care & Support Services
Each session is designed to help caregivers build confidence and develop skills they can use in their day-to-day caregiving experience.
Topics will address foundational caregiving skills, promoting independence, effective communication, responding to dementia-related behaviors, and connecting with care and support services.
