POTSDAM - For the third time this spring, SUNY Potsdam men's lacrosse player Saka Thompson (Akwesasne/Salmon River) has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference's Defensive Athlete of the Week.
He earned the same honor on March 4 and 25.
Thompson continued his stellar season in a 16-6 win over New Paltz at home on Saturday. The sophomore goalie made 13 saves to lower his conference leading goals-against-average to 7.29. and his second best save percentage to .656.
He enters the week ranked third in the nation in save percentage and eighth in G.A.A.
In less than two seasons, Thompson has compiled a 9-6 record, 221 saves, an 8.20 G.A.A. and a .637 save percentage. His is already tied for 10th in program history in wins.
The Bears are back in action on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. when they continue their playoff push against Plattsburgh State.
