CANTON – The St. Lawrence County Fair recently celebrated the outstanding achievements of its 4-H equestrian teams, as young riders showcased their horsemanship, dedication, and competitive spirit. Several of these talented individuals have earned the prestigious opportunity to represent the county at the New York State Fair.

The fairgrounds were alive with the energy and excitement of the equestrian events, where 4-H members competed in various disciplines, including showmanship, English and Western riding, Ranch riding, Gymkhana and jumping. The participants demonstrated exceptional skill, discipline, and a deep bond with their horses. The 4-H program, known for fostering youth development through hands-on learning, saw members presenting their horses with confidence and expertise.

"The hard work and passion these young equestrians have put into their training is truly remarkable," said Tamara Hill, 4-H Youth and Family Team Leader. "Their performances at the county fair were outstanding, and we are incredibly proud to see many of them advance to the state level."

These 4-Hers will join others from across New York State in Syracuse, where they will compete for top honors and showcase their projects on a larger stage. The New York State Fair, set to take place from August 21-September 2, is a significant event that brings together the best of the state's 4-H talent.

"Advancing to the state fair is a testament to the dedication and skills of our 4-H members," added Tamara Hill. "We are confident they will represent St. Lawrence County with pride and continue to excel in their respective disciplines."

The 4-H program continues to play a vital role in youth education and community involvement, providing opportunities for young people to develop leadership skills, learn new subjects, and make a positive impact in their communities.
