MASSENA -- The 18th Annual Civil War Reenactment Weekend takes place Saturday, July 27, 10-5, and Sunday, July 28, 10-3, at Robert Moses State Park, Massena.
The event is presented by the St. Lawrence County Historical Association (SLCHA) and the 15th Alabama Infantry, Alexander’s Battery.
Highlights include Confederate and Union encampments, historical talks (including medical and railroads), demonstrations, exhibits, children's activities (including muster, scavenger hunt, and train rides), and live battle reenactments on Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
Must see events this year include Miss Susan's Sutlery, Victorian games and activities, the children's scavenger nut and train rides and displays of Civil War artifacts.
A food vendor will be on site.
The schedule of events includes:
Saturday, July 27
10 a.m., Camps open to the public; infantry, artillery and cavalry drills
11 a.m., Civil War medical demonstration, field hospital
11:30 a.m., Children’s muster near the pavilion
12:30 p.m., President Lincoln speaks, speakers’ tent
1:30 p.m., Reading of letters from home, Confederate camp
3 p.m., Battle reenactment
4 p.m., Civil War cooking demonstration, Confederate camp
5 p.m., Camps closed
Sunday, July 28
10 a.m., Camps open to the public; infantry, artillery and cavalry drills
11 a.m., Civil War medical demonstration, field hospital
11:30 a.m., What’s in a soldier’s haversack?, speakers’ tent
12 p.m., Women spies in the Civil War, Jim Dawson, speakers’ tent
1 p.m., Battle and closing ceremonies
