CANTON -- The Village of Canton is negotiating a contract with Centerline Communications to allow that company to install an AT&T cell tower on village property in the Town of Pierrepont.

Mayor Mike Dalton told the village board at their meeting April 20, that village attorney Gerald Ducharme is reviewing the contract documents after discussions with the company.

"It is very similar in many ways to what we have with AT&T already on our water tower," Dalton told the board. "There are a few differences because of the location."

"They have upped the ante on the price we asked and on the terms of renewal of that contract. So we're comfortable in terms of money. We are at where we need to be. Now its a matter of working out some of the details and the writing in the contract. Which isn't unusual, we go through this every time," Dalton said. The mayor said the cell tower construction will not be happening this summer. "It takes quite a while for all of the approvals to be done," Dalton said.

Dalton told the board the village will continue to move forward with negotiations and then bring a contract to the board for review after it was ready to be signed.
