CANTON — Registration for GardenShare's annual Fight Hunger Fair & 5K scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 17 is now open.
The Fight Hunger Fair & 5K is a newly combined GardenShare event, bringing together the presentation of the 2023 Growing Community Award, Hunger Action Month activities, and GardenShare’s annual Fight Hunger 5K.
This year’s event, at the Canton Village Green, will be a fun and family-friendly community event to bring awareness of food justice work in St. Lawrence County, say organizers.
Before, during and after the 5K run/walk, there will be educational games and activities centered around food system awareness and tabling of community partners who strive to alleviate local hunger and food insecurity.
Registration and participation in the run helps support GardenShare’s mission of increasing access to healthy, nutritious local food for our North Country neighbors.
Sign up today to Fight Hunger, and consider maximizing your impact by asking family, friends, and co-workers to sponsor your participation. There will be a grand prize for our top fundraiser.
This year’s Fight Hunger Fair & 5K will feature a new event; the Veggie Adventure Run. This one-mile course is geared towards children and families and will feature engaging activities along the way.
One hundred percent of the registration fee goes to support GardenShare. To accommodate this GardenShare is offering tiered discounts for those who cannot afford the full donation.
