POTSDAM -- Seth Coates, a 12-year-old who goes to A.A. Kingston Middle School in Potsdam, found out May 1 that he has been named to the USA National Luge Team's Junior Development Team ("D" Team) for 2020-21.
Coates tried luge for the first time when he was 8, and started to slide with Adirondack Luge Club in Lake Placid in the 2018-19 season.
In August 2019, Coates attended a White Castle Slider Search in Utica, after which he was invited to attend a screening camp at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid in January.
He continued to slide with ADK Luge through this past season and placed 7th in Youth Nationals this year.
