MASSENA – A Massena woman is staging a “Flocking” fundraiser for a 37-year-old mother of two who is struggling with cervical cancer.
Kerry LeGrow was diagnosed with the disease about a year and a half ago and has had chemo therapy and radiation, but it has been determined that she has re-occuring cancer.
LeGrow, previously a home health aide before diagnosis, has two daughters, Nova, a senior and athlete at Massena Central, and Kensleigh, an athlete who attends Jefferson Elementary.
LeGrow’s friend Renee Barto is organizing the fundraiser. A flock of plastic flamingos are set up in the yards of businesses or residents. For $15 the flock will be removed. For $20 the flock is removed and is placed where you would like it. For $30 it is removed, placed at location of your choice and you cannot be flocked again.
Local residents can send a flock of flamingos to their friends and neighbors for $20 per flock.
Payment can be through PayPal, Venmo or cash.
Barto said Massena Savings and Loan and Mayor Tim Currier have been “flocked” thus far.
All proceeds will go to LeGrow and her family to support her recovery.
