MASSENA -- A two-story concession and equipment building at Leo Lashomb Field burned over the weekend.

The field is located near Springs Park and hosts dozens of youth baseball games, as well as an annual summer tournament

"This building held every single piece of equipment that belongs to Massena Little League. Every bat, every ball, every pad, pitching machines. All of it. The tractor is gone, everything from concession is gone, and every old uniform/trophy is gone," a statement on a GoFundMe page said.

The building has served Massena Little League for decades and holds countless memories for players from many generations.

"While the memories can’t be replaced, we will do our best to rebuild and continue providing Massena’s youth with a place to play baseball," the statement said.

Anyone with cameras near the field is asked to check them overnight Aug. 26 through Aug. 27 about 3:30 a.m.

"Your Massena Career staff has been a sponsor of Massena Little League for decades," an online statement from Village of Massena Permanent Firefighters IAFF Local 2220 said. "We will continue to support them, and help in any way we can in the rebuilding efforts."

The GoFundMe has raised over $6,000 toward a $100,000 goal of rebuilding.

"This is a place so many have spent countless hours enjoying," the fire department said. "It was a disheartening scene this morning, but as always we know this community is going to pull together and build it back better than ever for the children of Massena."
