OGDENSBURG – The Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce has selected Julie Madlin as the 2022 Citizen of the Year.

This award will be presented at the chamber’s annual dinner on Friday, Nov. 4, at the Gran View Restaurant.

Madlin was selected due to her dedication to promoting and preserving the history of Ogdensburg and her recent success in establishing the Ogdensburg History Museum. She has also been instrumental in the planning, fundraising and implementation of the “Living History Day” which is hosted by the Fort La Presentation Association providing over 300 students, each year, with a hands-on event bringing history alive for area students.

The Chamber will present the Business Improvement Award to Wimpy’s Inn and Julia Henry who recently re-opened the iconic restaurant close to where the original restaurant was located. Putting an empty building back to good use and hiring more staff from the community. The bright yellow awning – the sign in the window and the wonderful wall mural has brighten our city. Julia has always kept the Wimpy’s tradition alive in Ogdensburg starting with her food truck during the spring and summer – now we can get our Wimpy’s all year round.

The Chamber will present the Outstanding Community Service Award to Our Lady’s Outreach Ministry for their work in assisting the underserved in the community. Formerly known as the St. Vincent DePaul Store, they have served our community for the past 70 years by providing food, clothing, shelter, utility services, transportation, and fuel to families in need.

The dinner menu will be prime rib/chicken Michael/seafood platter with parsley buttered red skin potatoes; grilled confit portabella mushrooms for vegetarian guests; French onion soup, Gran View house salad, honey glazed carrots and homemade apple crisp with vanilla ice cream for dessert.

The chamber will hold a 50/50 raffle, live and silent auctions and a Lottery Board raffle.
