POTSDAM -- Legislator David Haggard, D-Potsdam, has resigned from the St. Lawrence County legislature.
Board Chair Joseph Lightfoot, R-Ogdensburg, said there is a local law that will dictate how they fill the vacancy.
“The board chairman must appoint a committee consisting of Democrats on the board to find and bring forward a candidate for the position,” Lightfoot said. “According to the local law, the board then must vote affirmatively on who they bring forward.”
He expects to announce the committee members at the next full board meeting on Monday, April 6.
