Today is the first day of spring, but St. Lawrence County residents are continuing to enjoy summer-like temperatures.
For the second day in a row Monday, temperature records were shattered, with the high at Massena International Airport reaching 77 degrees, according to WeatherUnderground, a national weather reporting and forecasting site.
The temperature yesterday was16 degrees greater than the previous high of 61 set in 2010. A day earlier, on Sunday, temperatures in Massena reached 78, beating the previous record by 12 degrees.
The average high temperature for March 19 is 39 degrees, and the average low is 20, WeatherUnderground says. The record low of -15 degrees was set in 1993.
People in St. Lawrence County can expect highs in the mid- to upper 70s each day through Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
