FORT COVINGTON — Salmon River Central School has a new lighted turf field for athletic contests.

The turf will see its first game tonight as the Salmon River Varsity Girls Soccer team takes on Lisbon Central.

Immediately before the game, members of the Salmon River administration and Board of Education will be present for a ceremonial ribbon cutting.

The new synthetic turf field at Salmon River was part of a larger $7.4 million capital project that voters approved in 2021. There was no new tax impact associated with this project.

Additional upgrades and enhancements associated with the capital project include a new community walking trail, a resurfaced track, new tennis, basketball and pickleball courts, and field improvements.

The game begins at 6:30 p.m. with the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:15 p.m.
