Attempts to reach Ogdensburg Black Lives Matter march organizer unsuccessful, mayor plans to attend

OGDENSBURG – North Country This Week received an email regarding a peaceful Black Lives Matter march allegedly organized for 6 p.m. tonight in Ogdensburg, but attempts to reach the organizer have been unsuccessful.

The news release came from Paul Lawrence, and says that if more information is needed to ask, but attempts to garner additional information were not immediately successful.

Several people have reached out to North Country This Week regarding the article, including the Mayor of Ogdensburg. Many raised concerns that the organizer may not be from the area. However, North Country This Week has been unable to confirm that information.

Mayor Jeffrey Skelly is also attempting to reach out to the organizer and says he will be present at the rally.

Skelly raised concerns about potential issues related to social distancing, but said he hopes the event is peaceful.

“We are hopeful that the organizer has good intentions and that everyone is able to stay safe,” he said.
