To the Editor:

On behalf of the entire St. Lawrence Health community, I would like to thank our generous donors and sponsors who helped to make the Great Care, Right Here Fundraising Campaign Kick-Off Gala a great success. The St. Lawrence Health Foundation’s Great Care, Right Here Fundraising Campaign Kick-Off Gala raised more than $155,000 to support the priorities of the Campaign. This was the most successful fundraising event in the St. Lawrence Health Foundation’s history more than doubling the total funds raised at the last event in 2019.

Proceeds from the event, held at The Stables at Windy Point on Thursday, November 2, will support the construction of the St. Lawrence Health Regional Care Pavilion at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, the establishment of a Family Medicine Rural Residency Program, and scholarships to support employees pursuing further education.

The Great Care, Right Here Fundraising Campaign Kick-Off Gala Planning Committee included Campaign Chair Jacquelyn Kuno, Franco Bari, Linda Butcher, Mary Anne Healey, Terry Lewis, Jess Sheehan, and An Tulloch, PA.

The presenting sponsor for this year’s event was Compass One Healthcare and other sponsors included Burns Bros Contractors, Pike Construction Services, J.E. Sheehan Contracting Corp., Collins-Hammond Electrical Contractors, Labella Associates, United Helpers, Trane, St. Lawrence University, Five Elements Living and Apothecary Chocolates, and Joseph and Jutta Fitzsimons.

More than 170 attended the event, which included musicians who donated their time and talent during the evening - Tyler Allen, Josh Barkley, Daniel Cassada, David Wells, and Crane School of Music Faculty Member, Anna Hendrickson and her students.

A live and silent auction as well as a paddle raise created a fun and rewarding atmosphere for attendees whose intent was to make a difference in their community. The SLH Foundation is grateful for the support of the 36 live and silent auction donors whose donations helped to boost the event proceeds. Auction donors included the 1844 House, Best Western, Big Spoon Kitchen, Bonnie Castle Resort, Courtney Burds, Tom and Linda Butcher, Chips in Hannawa, Clarkson University Athletics, Jan Close, MD, TJ Fiacco Construction Company, Five Elements Living and Apothecary Chocolates, Glow Spa, Golden Arrow Lake Placid Resort, Hoof & Horn, In-Law Brewing, Jake's on the Water, Jacques Kuno, Kunoco, Suzanne Langlier-Lebeda, Mary Lawrence, LUXE GIVE, Maple Run Emporium, Mirror Lake Inn, North Country Children's Museum, Park Bros Bagelry, Potsdam Town and Country Club, River Living Furniture, Riverside Liquors, St. Lawrence Medi Spa, St. Lawrence University Athletics, Studio 101 Medi Spa, Sweet Retreat Bakery, The Pear Tree, 3 Bears Gluten-Free Bakery & Cafe, Ben Todd, and White's Flowers.

The SLH Foundation exists to raise funds for the sole benefit of the patients served by Canton-Potsdam Hospital and Gouverneur Hospital. Those interested in supporting patient care in their community may contact Executive Director of the SLH Foundation April Grant, at (315) 261-5418. Donations can be mailed to the Foundation at 50 Leroy Street, Potsdam, NY 13676, or made online at https://stlawrencehealthsystem.org/about/give.
