The Potsdam Central School District 2019-20 budget and Board of Education vote are coming up soon. I am up for re-election this year and would appreciate your support.
I’ve contributed to the Potsdam Central School District since my children entered school in 2007. I spent many years volunteering in classrooms and was active in the PTSA from 2009-13. I was first elected to the school board in 2013. I have been a member and chair of the Finance and Audit committees, and a member of the Professional Development committee. I was Board vice president from 2015-17, and am currently nearing the end of my second year as Board president. Serving on the board of education is a tremendous responsibility and commitment, one which I take very seriously.
While as parents we look out for our own children, school board members are responsible for helping provide a learning environment and education that are in the best interests of all district children. The needs of our students and the expectations of our community are wide-ranging, which can make this a challenging proposition. I have proven that I am up to the task. The children of our district are always my top priority. I am very careful to reserve judgment until I have heard all sides, researched, and had the opportunity to ask questions before coming to any conclusions.
It takes a long time to learn the ins and outs of how to be an effective board member; I have done that hard work and am ready to continue working on behalf of our schools.
The budget vote and Board of Education election will be held Tuesday, May 21 from 7 am to 8 pm in the Potsdam High School auditorium. I would ask that you mark your calendars and come out to vote. Thank you.
