Opinion: My opponent is the one 'twisting the truth,' says Family Court Judge candidate Lesyk

To the Editor:

My opponent published a letter to the editor on August 26, where he claims that I am “twisting the truth” by quoting his own language word-for-word from his own campaign literature.

I previously pointed out that Mr. Moses has not appeared before an elected Family Court judge in four years. In this letter, he now claims that he has “handled some cases.” How many? What kind? I have worked on hundreds of the most complex Family Court cases in the last four years.

In this letter, he now says that while he is admitted to the New Jersey bar, he cannot practice there because he didn’t pay his dues. What about the suspension from Federal Court? Who is twisting the truth?

In this letter, he now admits his Canton School Board term ended in May. But even in this letter, he says he is “continuing his focus on children representing the staff and students on the Canton School Board.” How? His term is over. Who is twisting the truth?

In this letter, he now admits that the new County Attorney “came in and brought over their staff.” He admits that he was asked to leave. I was chosen to be the Principal Court Attorney for a Family Court Judge.

In this letter, he refers to past experience as an Attorney-for-Child. He has still not addressed why he chose not to resume this position when he returned to private practice.

Finally, in this letter, he again says that he has “tried to connect [parole violators] with services so that they could if whenever possible be reunited with their families.” He is twisting himself into a pretzel trying to argue that he somehow supports child victims by helping to reunite parole violators with their families.

As a candidate for Family Court Judge, wouldn’t it have made more sense to help the children who have had crimes committed against them? That’s what I did when I was the Chief Assistant District Attorney and a Special Prosecutor.

Mr. Moses is “twisting the truth” when he knows that his campaign information is untrue or misleading and distributes it anyway. The only reason that he is finally admitting he misrepresented his experience and credentials is because I called him out on it.

This is probably why my opponent refuses to debate me. I would call him out and demand rational and truthful answers.
