To the Editor:

We at Church & Community Program want to thank the Northern New York Community Foundation for their generous grant of $1,000 to our food pantry.

In June, we’re between budget seasons for the Food Bank of Central New York, so this funding from NNYCF comes at a crucial time as we aim to keep the food supply stable for the families we serve each week. We were able to order two shipments of good, nourishing, tasty food at low cost from the Food Bank. That translates to about 3,000 pounds of meat, fish, juice, cereal, canned vegetables, fresh and canned fruit, milk, canned meats, peanut butter, and more. We very much appreciate this support.

Our pantry, which never closed during the pandemic, serves people in need in the Towns of Canton, Clare, Hermon, DeKalb, and Russell as well as the Village of Heuvelton. In addition, we recently expanded our Pantry Senior Delivery to include Law Lane as well as the high rises on Riverside Drive in Canton. We deliver groceries twice a month to seniors and other who physically can’t get to us.

Pantry hours at our location on 30 Court Street are 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Tuesdays and noon to 3:45 p.m. on Wednesdays. We provide prepared boxes of food selected according to the clients’ choice.

If you need food or are interested in volunteering with Church & Community Program, please contact Director Connie Jenkins at 315/386-3534.
