OGDENSBURG – Violeta DeGroat, a senior at Ogdensburg Free Academy, has been named the Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce March BOCES Student of the Month. DeGroat. Violeta Evan is in the Cosmetology Program at Northwest Tech BOCES in Ogdensburg.

Upon completion of the Cosmetology Program, Violeta will be prepared and eligible to sit for the New York State Board licensing exam and has also been accepted to SUNY Potsdam to major in Early Childhood Education.

Amy Stull, Cosmetology Instructor at Northwest Tech BOCES had this to say about her, “We would like to congratulate Violeta DeGroat, an Ogdensburg Free Academy senior in Ms. Stull’s cosmetology class. Violeta comes to class each day prepared and eager to learn. She never turns down a challenge; rather she embraces them and succeeds. She maintains an outstanding grade point average and demonstrates exceptional work ethic. Violeta conducts herself in a very professional manner and treats everyone with a great deal of dignity and respect. She is well rounded in her interests and activities, in and out of school. She has the ability to gracefully balance schoolwork, family, social activities and community service events as well as maintaining part-time employment at the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club. Violeta has a very bright future ahead of her and it is truly a pleasure having Violeta in class.”

Violeta received a $25 check from Jones Insurance Agency, a Certificate of Achievement from BOCES and a plaque from the Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce.
