RUSSELL — Edwards-Knox Central school has named Marin McIntosh as its valedictorian and Kayleigh Allen as its salutatorian for the Class of 2023.

Marin's pursuit of academic excellence culminates in her graduation with a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation with Honors, augmented by the distinction of Mastery in Science.

Marin's academic journey has been marked by remarkable achievements, having successfully completed 10 college credit-bearing courses. Her commitment to scholastic brilliance has been acknowledged through a myriad of distinguished accolades, including the esteemed Outstanding Performance and Outstanding Honor Roll awards. Notably, she has also been honored with the Academic All-Star Award, the RIT Creativity and Innovation Medal & Scholarship, the Russell Sage Award, the Scholastic Silver Key Award, the St. Bonaventure Bonnie Scholar & Reilly Scholar Awards, and the University of Rochester Bausch & Lomb Science Award.

Beyond her exceptional academic aptitude, Marin's character shines through her eagerness to embrace feedback and her ceaseless pursuit of personal growth as both a learner and a leader. This invaluable trait will undoubtedly continue to propel her towards success in college and beyond. Kayleigh's academic journey is an impressive testament to her intellectual prowess. Having undertaken eight college credit-bearing courses, she has proven her insatiable thirst for knowledge and her remarkable aptitude for academic pursuits. Her exceptional performance has garnered her recognition through numerous accolades, including the esteemed Outstanding Honor Roll distinction, as well as the RIT Computing Medal & Scholarship, the Russell Sage Award, and the St. Bonaventure Bonnie Scholar & Reilly Scholar Awards.

Yet, Kayleigh's accomplishments extend beyond the realm of academics. Her commitment to holistic growth is evident in her active involvement in a multitude of extracurricular and volunteer activities, such as her active participation in Student Government and her membership in the esteemed National Honor Society. Demonstrating her leadership acumen and unwavering self-assurance, Kayleigh excels as a three-season athlete, passionately representing her school in soccer, softball, and basketball. Moreover, she holds esteemed officer positions within the National Honor Society, Student Government, and serves as the Treasurer for the Class of 2023.

As she sets forth on her journey of higher education, Kayleigh has chosen to pursue a path in Nursing at SUNY Delhi, simultaneously embracing her passion for softball.
