Black Lake derby
MORRISTOWN: Black Lake Ice Fishing Derby, “Bringing it Back to the Lake,” will be held Jan. 25 starting at 6 a.m.; pike-only event is hosted by the Black Lake Fish & Game Association Inc. and will feature a $1,000 grand prize; minimum length for catch is 26 inches; adult registration costs $15, youth (16 and younger) pay $10; register at the Club House, Black Lake Marine or Chapman's & Fish Creek Bait & Tackle.
Walk with a doc
GOUVERNEUR: Join a variety of St. Lawrence County health care providers for a walk at Gouverneur Middle School from 10 - 11 am. Walkers will gather in the main lobby then proceed to walk the hallways. SLC Public Health and Housing Council will provide information on the free lead paint hazard housing renovation and repair program. All walks are held the last Saturday of the month; check out the STLC Trails site at www.stlctrails.com/trails to discover more outdoor walking opportunities around St. Lawrence County! Snowmobile youth safety
COLTON: Snowmobile safety class for youth age 10 thru 17, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. by the Colton Sno Skippers at the Colton School during Colton Winterfest. Lunch is provided. The course provides fundamental information which all snowmobilers should possess. Register: 315-212-0070. Instructor is Danny Collins.
