Now that the Village of Potsdam Board has formally voted to place the issue of dissolution of the village on the ballot for Nov. 8, the consortium of civic organizations that arranged for the recording of the Sept. 12 public hearing will rebroadcast the hour-and-a-half event.
It can be seen at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26 and Tuesday, Sept. 27 on WCKN, Time Warner Channel 30.
The civic partners, the St. Lawrence County American Association of University Women (AAUW), the SLC League of Women Voters (LWV), and the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce, and WCKN’s North Country Matters, will continue to develop voter education programming about this issue over the next several weeks.
Village voters are urged to watch the hearing, attend public meetings, and educate themselves about all the options prior to Election Day. Voters can learn more and read the study committee’s final recommendations and plan on-line at http://www.cgr.org/potsdam/.
The full hearing is also available on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaBCDBiZFF0&feature=channel_video_title. You can find links from the websites of both AAUW (http://www.northnet.org/stlawrenceaauw/index.html) and the LWV (http://slc-leaguewv.org/).
In addition to rebroadcasts of the hearing, two live call-in shows are planned before Election Day to answer any last minute questions and to air public opinion about the dissolution vote.
Some members of the Potsdam Dissolution Committee have agreed to be on hand to respond to questions and provide factual information.
