CANTON -- Dierdre “Dede” Scozzafava will speak in Canton Friday at 4:30 p.m. at a Young Women’s Leadership Institute meet and greet.
Scozzafava was recently appointed by Governor Andrew Cuomo and approved by the State Senate to serve as Commissioner of the New York State Tax Appeals Tribunal.
Previously, she served as the Deputy Secretary of State for Local Government.
Scozzafava has served in public office during her entire career, first as a trustee in her hometown Village of Gouverneur, then as mayor of Gouverneur from 1993 through 1998.
In the State Assembly, she became the first woman to serve as Minority Leader Pro Tempore for the Republican Conference.
The event will take place in Sykes Formal Lounge on St. Lawrence University Campus.
Parking is available in Lot F and Lot E. The event will commence at 4:30 p.m. with a meet and greet, followed by the keynote address and questions from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
