Viola June Marshall, 82, Hogansburg

HOGANSBURG – Viola June Marshall, passed away Sunday (Dec. 3, 2023) at the home of her daughter Kelly Marshall,

Viola was born On June 12, 1942, in Cornwall Ontario the daughter of Moses David and Victoria (Lenora) Abraham. Viola graduated cosmetology school and became a hairdresser she then married the late Albert L. Marshall “ Honest Burt” on Nov. 4, 1961. At the very young age of 22, Viola was in a motorcycle accident which left her paralyzed With much determination and strength, she showed all who knew and loved her how to survive and how to have fun. She loved bingo, and trips to Las Vegas and always had a smile on her face. Viola was a huge fan of the late Elvis Presley.

Viola is survived by her daughter, Kelly Marshall of Hogansburg; her grandchildren, Ernest Monaghan III, Shannon Monaghan, Matthew Monaghan of North Carolina, Shawn Monaghan, Shane Monaghan, and Jessica Monaghan of Hogansburg -(Kelly) Joey Marshall, Franek Podeswick, John Paul Podesweick, Matthew Sobiranksi, and Christine Sobiranski. of Syracuse NY -(Kathy); along with her great-grandchildren, Jaylah, Amiyah, Maria, Elias, Acelynne, Zoey, Shawn, Caitlynn, Austin, Jacob, Collin, Brandon, Ryan, Justin, Alex, and Nicholas. Viola is also survived by many nieces and nephews; as well as her siblings, Ida and the late Dave Cameron, Frank David & Kateri, Richard & Jane David, Gina Jacobs, Leon & Margret Delormier, Debbi David, Mark David, and Larry David.

She was predeceased by her parents, Moses and Lenora and her daughter Kathy. Siblings, Betty David, Edna Cook, Andrew David, and Robert David.

A time visitation will be held Sunday, December 10th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flint Funeral Home, 8 NY-95 Moira, NY

Prayers and words Monday, December 11th beginning at 9:00 a.m., Funeral services will be held at the Mohawk Nation Longhouse at 11 a.m. with burial to follow in Solomon Road cemetery Hogansburg, NY. A traditional meal will follow at the longhouse after burial.

Memorial contributions in Viola’s honor made be made to the Everychild Matters Foundation “Orange Shirt Day”.
