June L. Atkinson, 57, Potsdam

POTSDAM -- June L. Atkinson, age 57, of Potsdam, NY passed away suddenly at the Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, NY on April 25, 2024.

Arrangements for cremation are with the Garner Funeral Service.

June will be buried with her parents and granddaughter at the Crary Mills Cemetery on Thursday, May 2, 2024, following a funeral service at the Garner Funeral Service at 3 pm with Rev. Ted Tate celebrant.

Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service from 1-3 pm.

June is survived by her daughters, Sarah (Adam) Zahler of Brier Hill, NY and Milli-Jean (Joshua) Kerr of Lisbon, NY; brothers, Peter (Tracy) Atkinson of Potsdam, NY, Charlie Atkinson of Ogdensburg, NY and Tony Harris of Raymondville, NY; a sister, Penny Barber of Madrid, NY and grandchildren, Avery and Aiden Blackburn and April and Hunter Curry.

She is predeceased by her sister, Felicia McGregor, her parents and a granddaughter, Aubrey Zahler.

June L. Atkinson was born June 11, 1966, in Newport, Vermont to the late Francis Atkinson and Bonnie Thomas.

She was a 1984 graduate of Potsdam Central High School.

June worked on the Atkinson Family Farm for several years. She worked at the nursing home in Canton for a few years and also was a waitress at several local restaurants until she became disabled.

June was a very loving, thoughtful and caring person, often surprising her friends and caregivers with presents.

She will be missed by her numerous friends at the Debra Drive community, her caregivers at the Agarwal Renal Center, local Doctor’s offices and the several drivers she’s had over the years getting her to her appointments.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed crafts and crocheting. She loved sitting outside in the sun and reading a good book.

She cherished time spent with her daughters and grandchildren.
