Ollie G. "Candy" Sheridan, 79, formerly of Canton

CANTON -- Ollie G. “Candy” Sheridan, 79, formerly of Canton died peacefully on Saturday, December 23 at the Mercy Living Center in Tupper Lake where she had been a resident for the past five years.

Candy was born October 14, 1944, in Gassway, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Paul and Amelia (Wheeler) Miller.

She attended Canton High School.

Candy worked for several years at the Canton Deli and at the Super Duper where she was known for her delicious macaroni and potato salads.

On April 27, 1974, she married the love of her life, Richard F. Sheridan in Canton with Rev. Seldon Ward, officiating. Richard predeceased her on May 7, 2016.

Following marriage, she was a homemaker, raising their family.

She loved her friends and family and filled her home with warmth and kindness.

Candy also had a love for animals, feeding the squirrels and birds, cooking, baking, and taking care of Richard and other family.

She was also a member of the Canton VFW Post 1231 Auxiliary.

She is survived by her three children, Virginia Sheridan, Rob Roy Sheridan, and Richard JR(Candace) Sheridan, and step-daughter, Jacqueline (Danny) Leashomb; brothers, Paul Miller Jr. and William (Julia) Miller, and a sister, Votie (Duane) Moore. Also surviving are several cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She spent quality time with grandchildren, Candy, Nickie, Bryan, Bethany, and Alyssa whom she proudly doted over and spoiled every chance she got.

In addition to her parents, Paul and Amelia, and her beloved husband, Richard, she was predeceased by two step-daughters, Deanna Sheridan Stevenson and Cathy Sheridan-Froats.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests to plant a tree in her memory or those wishing may make a donation to a charity of one’s choice.

A graveside service and joint interment for Candy and Richard will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 12:00 pm at the Fairview Cemetery, Canton
