COLTON— A Celebration of Life gathering for Laura M. Ryan, 73, a resident of 84 Riverside Drive, Colton, will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the Colton Fire Station Hall.

Burial will be held in the South Colton Cemetery at a later date.

Laura passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital with her family at her side.

Laura is survived by her husband of 56 years, James, Colton; two daughters, Laura “Laurie” L. Ryan and her companion, Scott Moore, Ogdensburg and Becky Ryan, Pierrepont; her seven beloved grandchildren, Kayla Burkum, Jessica Peters, James Ryan (Whitney Miller), Eric Burns, Nicolas Ryan, Jeremy Ryan (Marissa Shampine) and Emma Pitcher and seven great-grandchildren. Laura is also survived by a brother, James Wright, South Colton; a sister, Marie “Hazel” and Ray Mudge, South Colton and a sister-in-law, Patricia Wright, Pierrepont as well as several nieces and nephews.

Laura was pre-deceased by her parents, an infant son and a brother, Loran “Bill” Wright.

Born in Potsdam, NY on June 6, 1950, to the late Loran V. and Olive Marie Clark Wright, Laura attended Colton-Pierrepont School and married James W. Ryan on December 2, 1967.

Laura worked for several years as a cook at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital, retiring in 2018 and previously worked at the Canton Riverside Drive Apartments and as an Apple picker/packer in Sodus, NY.

In her free time, Laura enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and enjoyed going to bingo, taking care of her pet Parrot “Petey” and taking an occasional trip to the casino to play the slots.
