Anita Elizabeth O'Neill, 78, Massena

MASSENA -- A private memorial service will be held for Anita Elizabeth O’Neill, age 78, at Phillips Memorial Home in Massena with Rev. Mark Reilly presiding at the convenience of the family.

There will be no public calling hours per her wishes.

Entombment will take place in Oswegatchie Memorial Park in Ogdensburg, NY.

Anita passed away at home on Saturday, February 10, 2024.

Surviving Anita are her loving siblings; Jimmy Elman of Texas, Jerry and Gail Elman of Massena, NY, Mary Fuller and companion, Kenneth Ghostlaw of Massena, NY, Martin and Sandra Elman of Rockdale, TX, along with several nieces, nephews and her loving companion, Duane Pelkey of Massena, NY.

In addition to her parents, Anita was predeceased by her husband, Bernard O’Neill in 2010 and sister in-law, Janet Elman and a brother in-law, Ike Fuller in 2021.

Anita was born to the late Martin and Ruth (O’Leary) Elman on May 2, 1945, in Massena, NY.

She attended Massena School graduating. She was married to her husband, Bernard O’Neill on June 26, 1976, at Sacred Heart Church in Massena, NY.

Anita was employed with the Massena Central School District as bus driver, retiring after nearly 34 years of service.

In her spare time, Anita enjoyed doing puzzles, loved to craft and play scratch offs. She also enjoyed the time spent with friends during morning coffee at McDonald’s and loved her animals.
