Wayne F. Dennicort, 94, Potsdam

POTSDAM -- Mr. Wayne F. Dennicort, age 94 of Potsdam, NY passed away peacefully, at the Canton Potsdam Hospital on February 24, 2024, with family by his side.

Arrangements are with the Garner Funeral Service and a graveside service will be held in the spring at Bayside Cemetery.

Wayne is survived by his son, Philip (Nancy) Dennicort and several nieces and nephews; among them, Richard Denicourt, Jr. of Parishville, and Patricia Shelly of Potsdam.

He was predeceased by his wife, Irene Dennicort; brothers, Cortland and Richard Denicourt, Sr. and a sister, Mary Fefee.

Wayne was born on April 24, 1929, in Potsdam, NY to the late Cortland Denicourt and Anna Snyder.

He was a graduate of Potsdam Central High School.

On August 1, 1949, he married Irene A. Cox.

Wayne worked briefly for the Canton Potsdam Hospital. He then became employed by Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation, where he started as a Groundman in Ogdensburg and Gouverneur.

Then he became a Stationary Hydro Operator in South Edwards. He transferred back to Gouverneur as a Traveling Operator and then to Potsdam as a District Operator at Brown’s Bridge.

After a few years he was promoted to Chief District Operator at Brown’s Bridge where he remained until his retirement after 36 years of service with Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation.

In retirement Wayne and Irene enjoyed their winters in the Tampa, Florida area and their summers on Joe Indian Pond in Parishville.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and hunting and fishing.
