Samuel J. Booth, 53, Massena

MASSENA – Samuel J. Booth, 53, passed away January 17, 2024, in Rome, New York.

Samuel, known to many as Joe, was born on February 1, 1970, in Gainesville, Florida, the son of Larry George Frier and Lourella Lavern Hay and step son of Charles H. “Pops” Hay.

Joe had brother, Larry Dewayne Frier and three sisters, Gynell Walker, Gracie Frier and Susan Frier, who died on July 19, 1985. In his teen years, he was taken in by Jerry and Brenda Snyder, where he gained two more sisters, Tammy Phelps and Sonica Locy and a brother, Kenneth Snyder Sr.

He also has a son, Jeremy Richards; two brother-in-laws, Jason Phelps and Chad Locy; a sister-in-law, Cortney Snyder; and nieces and nephews, Meladee and James Dupuis, Trevor and Shalena Kemison, and Tajh, Tara, and Taylor Chancey; as well as many great nieces and nephews.

Joe enjoyed the outdoors, kayaking, spending days out by the water with his sister, Tammy and her family.

He also loved to go for rides, listen to music, and eating his rodeo burgers. He would sit in the backseat of Tammy’s car and say she was “Driving Ms. Daisy.”

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
