Rodney A. Burns, 48, Massena and formerly of Colton

MASSENA -- A Celebration of Life gathering for Rodney A. Burns, 48 a resident of 57 Grove Street, Massena and formerly of Colton, will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, starting at 12:30 p.m. at the Pierrepont Fire Hall with graveside services to be held in the Cooks Corners Cemetery, Pierrepont in the spring.

Mr. Burns passed away Thursday evening, February 8, 2024, at the SUNY Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse with family at his side after a brief illness.

Rodney is survived by his wife, Brenna Susice Burns, Massena; a daughter, Rylie Burns, Massena; a son, Bryce Burns, Louisville; his three stepchildren, Bailey Hewlett, Kaylee Henry and Kiersten Henry, Massena; his father, Rodney Burns and Mary Buckley, Colton-Pierrepont; his mother, Cynthia Clough Burns, Colton-Pierrepont; a sister, Bridget and Josh Cardinal, Nicholville and a brother, Dylan and Carrie Burns, Nicholville. Rodney is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Janet Clough, Colton-Pierrepont; and a niece, Caylee Cardinal, Nicholville; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Rodney was pre-deceased by his paternal grandparents, Leona and Frank (Jake) Burns and his maternal grandfather, Fred Clough.

Born in Potsdam, NY on September 30, 1975 to Rodney and Cynthia Clough Burns, Rodney graduated from Colton-Pierrepont Central School, Class of 1995 and attended SUNY Canton.

Rodney was employed by North County Colocation Services (NCCS) in Massena, NY as a Facility Supervisor.

Rodney married the love of his life, Brenna Susice Burns on September 23, 2023 in Brasher Falls, NY with his Uncle Bill Huckle officiating and his son, Bryce Burns and his daughter, Rylie Burns by his side bearing witness to the joining of the two families.

Rodney had a zest for life, a love of the outdoors, animals and reading. But above everything, family was his heart and soul.

He would always go above and beyond to ensure their needs came before his own.
