Creedence K. Tyo, 48, Fort Jackson

FORT JACKSON -- Creedence K. Tyo, age 48, of Fort Jackson, NY, passed away unexpected on Monday, April 1, 2024, at her home.

A graveside service will be held at Pine Grove II Cemetery in Massena at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Hammill Funeral Home.

Creedence is survived by her husband, Brian Tyo of Fort Jackson, NY; her children, Cleo Tyo, Finn Tyo, Shea Tyo, and Zola Tyo; her parents, William and Ruthann Houle; a brother, Gabe Houle of Massena, NY; nephews; and cousins.

Creedence is predeceased by a daughter, Esme Fiona Tyo, in 2010.

Creedence was born on November 2, 1975, in Massena, NY, the daughter of William and Ruthanne (Silmser) Houle.

She graduated from Massena High School in 1993 and later obtained her associates degree from Mater Dei College in 2000 in Criminal Justice.

Creedence married Brian Tyo on September 30, 2000, at the Racquette River in Massena, NY.

She worked as a substitute teacher at Massena Central School and St. Lawrence Central in Brasher and at the Elks Lodge.

Known for her passion for gardening and keen interest in plants, Creedence brought vibrant life to her home with her green thumb.

She enjoyed being out in the sun by the pool on warm days and loved decorating the home for the holidays.

Creedence was parishioner of the First Congregational Church and an esteemed member of the Historical Association of Hopkinton, contributing her passion for history and dedication to preserving the heritage of the community.

However, her greatest source of happiness was found in her children and beloved pets, who brought her endless joy and fulfillment.

Creedence will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
