Carol M. Thomas, 81, formerly of Potsdam

POTSDAM – Carol M. Thomas, 81, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, following a courageous 2 ½ year battle with ovarian cancer on Thursday, March 28, 2024.

Carol was born in Potsdam on March 15, 1943, the daughter of Olga (Benton) Thomas and the late Keith Thomas.

She was a 1960 graduate of Potsdam Central School and continued her education at Central City Business Institute in Syracuse, graduating in 1962.

She retired from Ontario Investments in 2011 as a contract administrator. Carol enjoyed playing golf and gardening.

Carol is survived by her mother, Olga Thomas; her brothers, Stephen (Christine) Thomas and Gerald (Jill) Thomas; a niece, Kara (Donald) Rescignano; nephews, Eric (Melissa) and Devin (Brigitte) Thomas; and many close friends.

In addition to her father, Carol was predeceased by her longtime companion, Trisky Marsallo.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam, where friends may call April 13, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 with a service celebrating her life at 2:00 PM with Pastor Stephen Smith of the Colton Community Church, officiating.

Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Southville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may consider memorial contributions to be made in her memory to the Southville Cemetery Association, 1003 State Highway 11B, Potsdam, NY 13676, or the American Cancer Society.
